Total Asphalt is recognized in the community as a respectable and trustworthy residential and commercial asphalt company.  They are also known for their recreational asphalt work as well.   They specialize in basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, cart paths, and bike pathways.

When designing these recreational court areas, the anticipated traffic has to be highly considered. For instance, a school playground will get much more traffic than a residential court.  It may also be used for other uses at a commercial facility.  This means a different composition of asphalt would be used according to its purpose.

Over 38 years of experience make Total Asphalt an expert in their field.  Their experienced paving contractors can determine what will be required for special asphalt paving projects.

Asphalt paved basketball and tennis courts are designed for foot traffic.  This is why the strength of the product used will differ for asphalt pavement needed for vehicle traffic.   The result is a much smoother surface which is the desired quality for court use.

Other Things To Consider Before Installing Your Basketball or Tennis Court

Before installing a basketball or tennis court, local city regulations will be addressed before a permit for a sport’s court will be granted.  The zoning department will need information on the site’s grading, tree removal, drainage, and possible retaining wall to confirm there will be no unfavorable outcomes to this site or any adjacent properties.  An experienced asphalt paving contractor who has paved many basketball and tennis courts will be able to advise you of the steps that must be followed to build a sports court.  Total Asphalt Paving has built numerous backyard full and half size courts for clients in Macomb and Oakland Counties.

Size of the Court

Asphalt basketball courts are generally built half size in residential yards and full-court at parks and playgrounds.  A standard full-size basketball court is 50’ wide by 94’ long, however, any size court can be customized to fit your needs.

While asphalt tennis courts can also be made of any size, a regulation tennis court is 78 feet long, with a width of 27 feet for singles matches and 36 feet for doubles matches. The service line is 21 feet from the net.  Overall, the court measures 60 feet wide and 120 feet long when taking into account the clear space around the court allowing for players to reach for overrun balls.

Also new to the recreational asphalt work is the game of pickleball.  It is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. It’s easy to learn and can be competitive for players of all. A regulation pickleball court measures 20'×44' and is used for both singles and doubles play. Pickleball courts are striped just like a tennis court with right and left service.

Whether it is a basketball court, tennis court, pickleball court, bike, or walking path, Total Asphalt Paving has the residential asphalt paving equipment and experience needed to ensure a beautiful, well-paved job for your residence or business.
