The Benefits of Asphalt in the Winter Season

Climate is always the first thing to consider when considering paving. In places where winter is cold and brutal, asphalt is always the most conducive material for this type of climate.  Asphalt driveways, parking lots, and roads hold up much better than concrete in these harsh elements.

Asphalt tends to be flexible when the ground shifts in sub-zero temperatures.  Concrete does not do well with the expansion and contraction due to the extreme temperature variations. Ultimately this means that the asphalt is more crack-resistant.  In addition, asphalt does not deteriorate with the use of salt like it does on concrete.

With concrete being black, the dark color helps draw in and contain the sun's heat.  This means that during the winter, snow will melt faster on an asphalt driveway paving, parking lot paving, or road than it will on concrete. This greatly improves safety in both residential and commercial properties and makes its maintenance by your local asphalt paving company much easier.
